The Council on International Relations (CIR) is pleased to announce that the Student/Faculty Committee has been accepted for a seventh year in a row to participate in the 2016 Study Tour of Turkey.  This continued, unprecedented series of award nominations shows the strength of our local program and participants.

The Tour is sponsored, organized, and funded by the Turkish Cultural Foundation who partners with the World Affairs Council (WACA) to bring this opportunity to local chapters. There are about 15 other local chapters from around the country who also will be joining the Tour. The Santa Fe Council on International Relations is the local organizer for Santa Fe teachers and is a member of WACA.

For 2016, CIR has been awarded four openings on the TCF Study Tour that we are pleased to offer to four local area teachers.  Twenty-two Santa Fe teachers have previously participated in the tour. Every one of them has had a positive, rewarding experience that enriched their classroom and curriculum with Turkish culture and history.

The TCF program is in three parts. The first part is this workshop which is scheduled for Saturday, March 5.  CIR members and guests who are interested in the history of Turkey, who want to enjoy high quality Turkish cuisine, and would like to meet and support some local teachers who are interested in international education are invited to attend. Seating is limited so be sure to make your reservation soon.

At the workshop, former CIR Board President Dr. John Dobson will deliver his highly rated PowerPoint presentation on the historical background of Turkey,  and the SFCC culinary institute will provide a delicious, authentic Turkish luncheon.  From past evaluations we can safely say that it will be worth your time to attend.
