2019-20 Fellows

For the 2019-20 academic year, CIR is thrilled to welcome twenty High School Fellows from across northern New Mexico.

Estephany is a junior at The Masters Program, a charter high school located at Santa Fe Communtiy College. After high school, she wants to become a lawyer. She dances ballet folklórico and is passionate about making a better world for our future generations.

Mah Begum is a senior at Desert Academy in Santa Fe. She is from Afghanistan and after graduating from high school, she wants to attend college in the United States and study international relations. Mah Begum enjoys talking to people from different places across the world and wants to learn more about the challenges they face in their societies.    

Alyssa is a senior at The Masters Program at the Santa Fe Community College. She is originally from Espanola, but currently lives in Santa Fe and plays varsity softball for Santa Fe High School. Alyssa eventually wants to become a lawyer.

Ami is a freshman at Santa Fe High School. She is interested in music and acting and is looking forward to learning more about the bigger world beyond Santa Fe.

Harlan is a senior at the Santa Fe Indian School and is from Cochiti Pueblo. He enjoys spending time outdoors and going on adventures.

Jammes is a junior at Mandela International Magnet School in Santa Fe. He was raised in Santa Fe, but had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan and Russia last year. He enjoys participating in the Fellowship because of the amazing experiences it provides.

Koray is a senior at the Santa Fe Waldorf School. He enjoys playing sports, especially soccer and is also on the track and field team. Koray enjoys spending time outside and camps often. Through the Fellowship, he hopes to learn more about students across the world and the places they live.

Lauren is a senior at the Santa Fe Indian School and is from the Pueblo of Ohkay Owingeh. Climate change is especially important to Lauren and he is excited to participate in the Fellowship and is looking forward to exploring different ideas to learn about solutions to global issues.

Neha is a senior at Los Alamos High School. She hopes to attend college in Washington, D.C. or Chicago next year. Neha also enjoys participating in speech and debate at her high school and likes listening to music.

Gabriella is a junior at Mandela International Magnet School in Santa Fe. She enjoys skiing, listening to music and spending time with her family.

Caitlyn is a senior at The Masters Program in Santa Fe. She enjoys studying psychology as well as traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
