September Book Club Meets on the Second Tuesday!

Location: Community Room of the Main Branch of the Santa Fe Public Library

Featured Book: That Used To Be Us: How America Fell Behind in the World It Invented and How We Can Come Back

Author: Thomas L. Friedman and Michael Mandelbaum

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the next meeting of the CIR Book Club will be on the second Tuesday of the month (normally the first Tuesday), September 11th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.  Meetings of the CIR Book Club are at the main library in downtown Santa Fe. Meetings are open to the public.

You’ll find this book by Friedman, an influential and widely known columnist, author of “The World is Flat” and Mandelbaum, a leading foreign policy expert and author of many books including, “Ideas that Conquered The World”, a stimulating read. It’s full of insightful anecdotes but is a bit depressing about what’s happened to the US. They call themselves “Optimists” and offer solutions to our current situation. Our discussion will center on these solutions and will be interesting.
