We have designed a wonderful tour of Peru, including Lima, Machu Picchu, Arequipa and Puno and Lake Titicaca. As usual, we are able to provide first-class hotels (all with breakfasts) at what we believe is a bargain price of $2195 per person in double occupancy. The single supplement is $838 per person. (Of this amount, $250 is a tax-deductible contribution to CIR.)
All breakfasts, several lunches and a gala last-night dinner are included in the price of the trip. All breakfasts, several lunches and a gala last-night dinner are included in the price of the trip. Included is the spectacular train trip to Machu Picchu in a vista dome rail car.
The tour includes three internal flights within Peru that now cost a total of around $375 per person. The cost of these flights is subject to change, but we will lock it in as soon as possible. The cost of these flights is in addition to the $2195 cost of the trip itself. This price does not include the round-trip airfare to Peru.
Right now round-trip airfare between Albuquerque (ABQ) and Lima (LIM) is around $1,000. You would need to book and pay for the international flight yourself but we will be happy to help you in selecting the best connections and prices.
If you find that you are seriously interested in this trip, it is important that you sign up as soon as possible. This is because the three internal flights within Peru need to be booked as early as possible. The same goes for the hotels. So we are asking you to make a decision as early as you can.
A 60 percent deposit is due no later than June 25 and the balance is due by July 25.
Payment is best made by calling the CIR office at 505-982-4931 and giving them your credit card information.
The price of the trip is based on a minimum group of 12 people. Should the group be lower than that we would need to make an adjustment, although we do not think it would be substantial. We will limit the tour to 16 people.
This trip is primarily for CIR members, but it is open to non-members as well at no extra cost. If you know someone who would be interested in this trip, let them know about it.
Please bear in mind that several days of this trip will be spent at high altitudes of around 12,000 feet. Puno and Cusco are on the Altiplano. Living in Santa Fe at 7,000 feet is a huge advantage in being able to adjust easily to these altitudes and most residents of Santa Fe should have no problems. But if you have a medical reason for not being at these altitudes, this trip may not be for you.
The trip includes one long road trip of around 10 hours from Puno to Cusco. Several stops will be made at points of great interest and for lunch along the way.
The hotels throughout the trip are among the best available and you are urged to look at the hotel websites provided in the day-by-day tour description. You cam also look at what others have to say about these hotels on websites such as trip advisor.com and booking.com.
No visas are necessary for Peru.
You will have the services of an English-speaking guide throughout the trip.
Since almost all return flights from Lima to the US leave at night, we have built an extra hotel night in Lima into the tour so that you will be able to keep your hotel rooms until you need to leave for the airport and won’t have to vacate the rooms early and spend hours sitting around the departure lounge.
