Home to more than 1.3 billion people, China will soon hold the greatest number of English speakers in the world. China is the third largest trading partner for the U.S. and we are China’s second largest trading partner. China’s foreign exchange and gold reserves are now the largest in the world.
Due to its size alone, China stands to greatly influence the world’s foreign policy, financial markets and popular culture. In just over thirty years, China has undertaken tremendous changes. What can we expect during the next thirty years?
Join CIR at its most exciting and comprehen- sive undertaking ever, Spotlight on China – From the Long March to Walmart, June 2 to 6. The Spotlight is an ambitious, multi-day event of interactive Lectures and Workshops; Lunch with a Punch with the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce; the CIR Members Party at the Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA); and a Taste of China Cooking Class.
The 2009 CIR International Spotlight on China is made possible in part by a grant from the New Mexico Humanities Council. CIR also thanks Hilton of Santa Fe Historic Plaza Hotel, Walter Burke Catering Company and Jackalope for their support.
