CIR activities have a substantial impact on Santa Fe and its residents. Lectures by experts brought in from outside of the area give residents access to current information and interpretations that might not be available locally. CIR activities promote dialogue, giving participants access to multiple views and the opportunity to test their own ideas and interpretations through debate. International visitor programs promote citizen diplomacy and give Santa Feans a view of the world, even if they are unable to travel to other countries themselves. We are especially proud of CIR’s direct impact on local students and impact on the local economy.
The International Visitor Leadership Program, which promotes one-on-one meetings between peers, builds enduring relationships between foreign leaders and U.S.decision makers. More than 320 current and former heads of State, 1,700 cabinet-level ministers, and many other distinguished world leaders in the public and private sectors have participated in this national program.
