President Yanukovich’s ouster in February after the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev and the subsequent Russian reaction in annexing the Crimea less than a month later served to set the stage for serious confrontation between Russia and the West. Continued Russian meddling in Eastern Ukraine supporting pro-Russian rebels coupled with the downing of MH17 flight dramatically escalated the crisis further. To see how we arrived at this juncture, what the capacities, policies and objectives of the major players are, and how we can possibly avoid another Cold War, we have put together the four-lecture program outlined below.
