Private Tour 12 Days

Alfama district of Lisbon

Day 1: Welcome to Portugal

Our tour guide will be waiting for you at the International Airport of Lisbon to give you a warm welcome and to escort you to your hotel in Lisbon.

Day 2: Lisbon and Fado tour

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Pick-up at your hotel around 09.00am. Lisbon is the capital and the largest city of Portugal. We can start to discover Belém. Here you will visit the Belém Tower, one of the most expressive monuments of Lisbon, followed by the well-known Monastery of Jerónimos, considered one of the most beautiful monuments of Portugal. You will have also the opportunity to visit the Carriage Museum, with its incredible collection. Then we proceed to “Praça do Comércio” directly to Alfama, the Fado district. We continue to downtown, up to “Marquês de Pombal”, passing by the famous Liberdade Avenue.

In the evening we will take you to a local restaurant so you can have diner and assist to a Fado show.

Day 3: Óbidos, Alcobaca & Batalha

Monastery of AlcobaçaBreakfast buffet at the hotel. Pick-up at your hotel around 09.00am. From Lisbon you travel north, towards Porto. First stop at Óbidos, a town located on a hill and encircled by a fortified wall. At Alcobaça and Batalha we have two important UNESCO monuments: the Monastery of Alcobaça, a huge church which is a symbol of the Portuguese history and was awarded in 1989; and the Monastery of Batalha, one of the most original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal and was listed in 1983. Arrival at Porto around 06.00pm.

Day 4: Porto

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. On this day you will join a private guided tour to the Historic Centre of Porto, listed as UNESCO heritage in 1996. Discover its most important monuments, sites and beaches, such as the neoclassical Stock Exchange and the typically Portuguese Manueline-style Church of Santa Clara. The tour continues to the Port Wine Cellars with a Porto Wine tasting and it ends with a Douro River Cruise.

GuimaraesDay 5: Braga and Guimarães

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. We will visit the Minho region, one of the greenest region in Portugal, with its spetaculars manors and traditions. Today we go to Braga and Guimarães. In Braga, discover the majesty of the Cathedral and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus with its Baroque stairway. Then, explore the Historic Centre of Guimarães, declared a World Heritage Site in 2001, and visit the most emblematic sites of this “Cradle City”.

Day 6: Douro Wine Region

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Douro, considered as the Best European River Destination by Huffington Post in 2013. You will depart from Porto heading north east towards Amarante, a small and lovely traditional town.

Then, arrival at Régua, located in the Douro Wine Region. This region was considered the World’s 7th Best Sustainable Tourism Destination by National Geographic in 2010, and was listed a UNESCO Heritage in 2001.

lcome you with the sound of traditional music. Also here you will have a lecture and tasting of Port wine. Enjoy the afternoon and the landscape.

Overnight at Douro Valley.

Day 7: Douro Wine Region

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Free morning to enjoy the serenity and splendor of Douro

Valley. Free time for lunch.

In the early afternoon, we will take you to do a 2 hours cruise on the prettiest part of Douro river, the Cruise Pinhão / Tua /Pinhão, so you can experience a unique trip surrounded by vineyards.

After the cruise, departure at Porto, arrival and overnight at your hotel.

Coimbra1Day 8: Coimbra and Tomar

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Coimbra is also known as the city of the students. The University of Coimbra is the oldest academic institution in the Portuguese-speaking world and the newest World Heritage Site of Portugal (listed in 2013). Explore this University and other emblematic monuments of this town. Then, you will visit Tomar, the last Templar town to be commissioned for construction. Its Convent of Christ was listed as a UNESCO site in 1983. Arrival in Lisbon around 06.00pm.

Day 9: Sintra, Cascais & Cabo da Roca

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Sintra is a romantic village at the edge of the Sintra Mountain Range and its unique characteristics have made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995.This guided tour includes a visit to Sintra National Palace and to the stunning landscapes of this Park. Afterwards you arrive at the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo da Roca. The return to Lisbon goes along the coast, passing through the towns of Cascais and Estoril.

Day 10: Alentejo

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Finally, you head to the landscapes of the Alentejo, known for its golden plains, towards Evora. The Historic Centre of Évora was declared a UNESCO Heritage in 1986. Explore this place, visiting the Roman Temple, the Church of S. Francisco and the Bones Chapel. Then we head to Elvas, where the Garrison Border Town of Elvas and its Fortifications was listed by UNESCO in 2012.

Return and accommodation in Lisbon.

Day 11: Lisbon

Breakfast buffet at the hotel and free day to explore the capital, Lisbon.

Day 12: Returning Home

Private transfer from the hotel to the International Airport of Lisbon.
