CIR has selected Treasures of Travel based in Edmonds, Washington to lead a tour for its members. Graham Umit Dogan will be our tour leader. Umit, a Turkish-American, is fluent in Turkish and quite familiar with the sites we will visit. The tour lasts 22 days (20 nights) and will visit Antakya, Sanli Urfa, Mardin, Van, Kars, Erzurum, Artvin, Trabzon, Amasya, Sinop, Amasra and Istanbul. The tour will have an archaeological theme visiting many museums, ancient churches, caravanserais and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In addition, the Turkish cuisine is delightful. Umit has also offered to help with hotels and tours if travelers wish to spend more time in Istanbul before or after the tour.

The price of this land tour of $3600 per traveler includes airfare from Istanbul to Antakya after arrival in Istanbul, comfortable 3-4-5 star hotels, daily breakfast, ten dinners, land travel by air conditioned Mercedes bus and paid admission to all museums and sites of interest that we will visit. The single supplement charge is $800. There will be no additional payment due CIR as there has been in previous CIR trips.

Anecdotal feedback from CIR members has been that you wanted CIR to offer more exotic destinations. This tour will certainly meet that criterion. Additionally, the price is quite reasonable considering the length of the trip and quality of the archaeological and cultural destinations.
